We at WildPhoto Travel are both humbled and proud to be part of the story and filming of Trade Secret documentary film. We feel strongly confident that this film will be a game-changer for better protection of polar bears. The main mission is to raise more awareness about the ongoing commercial exploitation of these magnificent animals and ensure we stop the trade once and for all.
WildPhoto's Ole J Liodden is one of the key characters in the film, following his mission to expose polar bear hunting statistics through the Polar Bears & Humans project. The story traces his journey from the early stages of uncovering information about unsustainable hunting and commercial trade, to launching a campaign to stop commercial trade in polar bear skins. After Ole J and Abraham met on a plane from Svalbard in 2016, the idea about a Polar bear conservation film started, and two years later the first filming was happening during a WildPhoto expedition to Greenland. Some of the more recent filming has been on our beloved expedition ship - MS Virgo - in Svalbard.

Trade Secret follows three unlikely allies - Ole J Liodden, Iris Ho, and Adam Cruise - on a mission to protect Polar bears from international commercial trade. Filmed over six years across nine countries, this groundbreaking documentary exposes the sanctioned sale of hundreds of polar bears each year on the global market.
As the investigation deepens, it uncovers a disturbing truth: those entrusted with safeguarding the species may be entangled in their continued commercialisation. The film raises urgent questions about how we protect vulnerable species in a world where the lines between protection and exploitation have become blurred.
Trade Secret is produced by the renowned director Abraham Joffe – known for the popular Netflix series Our Oceans and Thales by Light. Together with his hard-working team – Dome and Louis to name a few – Abraham managed to finalize the film in 2025, with generous private funding from the UK. Now it’s time to distribute Trade Secret to the world!
